coming up for air

I was out of town for most of January, and most of Febuary and early March were spent cooped up in the studio working on "Rime of the Ancient Marine Playboy" for "Amalgamations 25" in Blue Star's Main Gallery.  Now I'm rounding up copy machines for my performance at this year's Luminaria on Saturday.  AND today is the second consecutive week they've sneaked my mug into the overpriced Sunday paper.  Here's a list of media mentions so far this month:

Bennett, Steve, "Silver Star: Art center's 25th anniversary exhibit looks forward, not back," San Antonio Express-News, 2/28/10

ibid, "CAM marches to a new tune," San Antonio Express-News, 3/4/10

Enlow, Callie, "Ones2watch: Ed Saavedra," San Antonio Magazine, 3/10, p 32

Martin, Deborah, "Glowing Strong: Artists and the public have embraced Luminaria," San Antonio Express-News, 3/07/10

ibid, "Luminaria Spotlights," San Antonio Express-News, 3/07/10, p 3G

mention in the current

the site's only been up for a few days, but the san antonio current has already caught wind of it:

Ed is a brilliantly talented artist here in SATX. with a brand-spanking new website on (in?) which you can get a good look at his politically impassioned, technically accomplished, deeply-felt work. Saavedra's work never relies on knee-jerk shock value or easy irony, but is instead animated by a spirit of gritty, thwarted romanticism.

featured in art lies

my piece "manifest destination blues" was featured in art lies #63, which came out last week (see page 17, right after the table of contents)
